Matrix title

I have the following report using RS2000

(1) In my page header I have a textbox(title of the report).

(2) In my report body, I have a matrix report that can extend horizontally.

My issue is that I don't know how to make sure that my page header title (1) stretches as far as the last matrix row (2).

Any help? Has anyone ever come across this issue and is there a solution to it?

Thanks,

YADGOR2000

Two options:

1. You can add an outmost status column (or a dynamic column with a constant group expression) in the matrix. Put the title in the column header and set the TextAlign to center.

2. Add a table with two header rows and one column, and drop the matrix inside the second row of the table. Put the title in the first table row, and set the TextAlign to center.

I am not sure I can understand your response. Can you give me step by step break down for either option 1 or 2.

Thank you

matrix row header

In RS 2000, how do you place headers on the columns in the row section of a
matrix?I've added a rectangle to the header section in a matrix, and then placed
individual textboxes inside the rectangle.
At first I used a table instead of rectangles and textboxes, but this gave
me an error message when exporting to Excel. The rectangle + textboxes
should be safe, though. (I've had no complaints. :) )

problem with row merging and takind time to open the file when it has
huge data.
make sure that you aligned them perfectly to the grid
you can also type in the textbox without rectangle and textboxes on the
space, but you cant have borders and formattings
Thank you

Matrix Report Header

I have two row groups in my matrix report.

My client wants to add a header to these row groups.

So what I did was I added a table to the matrix header and then gave the values as I wanted. It worked fine in HTML and PDF . But when i tried exporting it to excel It gave me an error in the excel

Data Regions within table/matrix cells are ignored.

Is there any work aroung for this?

I solved the problem. I added a rectangle and placed two textboxes inside the rectangle . Then I dragged and dropped the rectangle inside the matrix merged column. Now it looks like header for row groups.

Matrix Columns on opposite sides

How do I put a group's row header at the right of the matrix and the column
headers at the bottom?
Many thanks
ScottHello Scott,
Thank you for your posting!
Based on my experience, you could not move the row header to the right of
the matrix and the column header to the bottom.
I would like to know why you want to do this. Since the row number and
column number of the matrix are dynamic, the width of the matrix may be
very long that you will need to scroll the screen to see the row header and
the column header.

one of the data elements on the right and the left of the data. Also, I
have to put "compound" aggregates into a matrix. So, to do the
calculations(IE, a total and percent of total) I have to add another matrix
control as a "grand total".
I tried to make the second matrix control look like it was "attached" as a
total to the original Matrix control. If I put the second control close to
the first control then the second control would be in the middle of the
first Matrix control. I wanted to place the header on the bottom so I
could have the control adjacent to each other.
Does this make any sense?

Thank you for the reply.
Unfortunately, the Matrix control was limited. As for the total value, I
think you could add some Calculation field in the dataset to complete this
function.

Matrix and date colum header

Hi all,
I am trying to create a "simple" matrix.
I have:
--
| DateRange |
---
| Department | sum(value) |
---
I am giving the matrix an sql statement that returns all the values
and dates for a particular department on a YEARLY output.
So what I'm trying to do is have it so I get something like:
2006-2007 2005-2006
Department A 123 112
Department B 455 333
Department C 334 444
Department D 123 333
Department E 444 232
ie, have it sum the values on a year interval. I could do this easily
in Crystal, but am unsure as to how to do it in Reporting Services.
At present Im getting a column header for each date value resturned in
my SQL - which is not what I want!
eg:
01/01/2007 01/03/2007 04/03/2006
A 123 333
B 222
C 1222
How do I group the column header by year'
Any info would be much appreciated!!!!You can have year(date) but it gives you the year, so what you can do is use
a case statement in your query to seperate 2006-2007, 2005-2006 ans so on..
and use it in the matrix.

Hi Amarnath,
Thanks for the reply. However I'm not sure how to tackle this by
using a case statement?
ie, not sure how to set it up to get it to seperate 2006-2007 etc?
Here is my sql so far:
SELECT MedicareItemKey, TestDepartments.Code as Department,
TransactionAmount, DateServiced
FROM InvoiceTransactions
INNER JOIN TestDepartments ON InvoiceTransactions.DepartmentKey =TestDepartments.[Key]
WHERE MedicareItemKey IS NOT NULL
AND ((InvoiceTransactions.[DateServiced] >= '01-
Jan-'+convert(char,year(getdate())-0))
AND (InvoiceTransactions.[DateServiced] < '01-
Jan-'+convert(char,year(getdate())+1)))
ORDER BY TestDepartments.Code, MedicareItemKey, DateServiced
As you can see above, the DateServiced column is the one I am having
issues with in my matrix.
Thanks!|||David,
I have create a small table with data
" create table INV (dept varchar(10),Amt numeric(10,2), dDate datetime)"
and tried this sql, according to your conditions you can modify.
SELECT Dept, SUM(Amt) As Amt,
(case when year(Inv.dDate) between 2004 and 2005 then '2004-2005'
when year(Inv.dDate) between 2005 and 2006 then '2005-2006'
when year(Inv.dDate) between 2006 and 2007 then '2006-2007'
end) as Dyear
FROM Inv
Group By Dept, ddate
order by Dept
Just open a report and place the matrix and drag and drop in the respective
column, you will get your desired results.
Let me know for any problems.

Thanks Amarnath,
Appreciate the reply.
I think that clears things up for me, I will give it a go!
