Matrix Subtotal

Hi,

I have a matrix with 3 row groups: Location, Company, Country. I want to add a subtotal of "Company" that will breakdown into "Country" as well.
e.g.
right now if i add subtotal to "Company", it will give me:

New York Company A CAN

100

USA 150 Total 250 Company B CAN 80 USA 90 Total 170 Company C CAN 50 USA 60 Total 110 Total 530 LA Company D etc...

i want something like:

New York Company A CAN

100

USA 150 Total 250 Company B CAN 80 USA 90 Total 170 Company C CAN 50 USA 60 Total 110 Total CAN 230 USA 300 Total 530 LA Company D etc...

is this possible? thanks

kindof solved the problem now.. using rows to do the CAN/USA/Total instead of group.

|||Does anyone know how to actually do this? I have a variable number of members of my groups, so I can't use rows as city_ash did. It seems like relatively basic functionality if people need a matrix report.sql

matrix column grouping collapse

Hi Folks
Going a little crazy with this one...
Have a SSRS 2K SP1 matrix report which is highly similar to the company
sales report example. As a matter of act, the column headings are identical.
Have no issues with the row groupings expanding and showing initially as
collapsed, but for the life of me, I can not get the columns (YEAR/QUARTER)
to rendering as collapsed or have any of this functionality.
Having groupings working fine for both row/column, but the collapsed for
columns just doesn't seem to be functional?
thanks
robgot it...
solution was found here:

Matrices in reporting services

Hello All,

I am attempting to produce a Summary report that will detail all financial losses incurred by a company. These losses are seperated into categories and each category has two types, direct and indirect. To date I have employed the use of multiple matrices.

The problem is that if the company has incurred no losses for a specific category then this will cause the matrix to automatically cater for the lack of this column. However I want this to show up regardless of there being data...

I cannot employ the use of tables...as it simply does not work!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Ideas?

All would be appreciated!!

Thanks

JrDevRon,

You could return "Zeros" or Blank space in your SQL where no losses occur for specific categories. This is ensure that you always return all categories regardless.

Hi Ham,

Thanks for the reply!

I have this implemented already and this works fine when at least one of the cells in the same column/row has been populated. If there is no data for a specific column then the whole thing disappears regardless...this is something I do not want.

Right now I have it this way and giving me a subtotal, I also then have another row detailing the recovered amounts which apply to my categories below my subtotal, obviously due to restrictions I have to use a second matrix for this information. I then subtract the corresponding information from the subtotal. But due to the above problem these columns do not always line up on the report...

I know this sounds convoluted and more complex than it probably needs to be but I would be appreciative of any help...

Thank you all!!

Master, Model, and Msdb backup

Hi Everyone,
I'm orgainizing the backup maintenance plans for our
company. I create two different plans: one for all
production databases and one for the system databases.
I've got the recovery method set for "Simple" for the
system databases. In the "Optimization" tab in the
maintenance plan, I have just the "Update Statistics" with
a 10% sample. Reorganize index pages doesn't seem like it
would be necessary for these files. Is there anything
else in the optimiztion that I should set? Any
suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in advance
LarryHi,
For System databases it is not required to reorganise the index pages
frequently becuase the changes are very few. So
you can go ahed with the way you planned.
Only thing is have a look into the maintenance plans and ensure that all
databases are backeup (both user and system) sucessfully daily.
Thanks
